Fishermen In Galle Must Undergo PCR Tests Before Entering Fisheries Harbours

Health authoroties have made it mandatory for fishermen in the Galle District to undergo at least one PCR test.

Fishermen who do not undergo PCR tests will not be permitted to enter the fisheries harbors, local health authorities said. The Regional Epidemiologist said that a regular health team will be deployed at the Galle Fisheries Harbor for five days to conduct PCR tests on fishermen who are unable to undergo such tests on their own.

The local epidemiologist said that the fishing community has been given priority in conducting PCR tests. Measures have been adopted to otain information on fishermen will be obtained from fishermen's associations and public health inspectors.
