Health Ministry Spokesman Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara said no change has been made in the decision to cremate the bodies of COVID19 victims.

The Spokesman also added that there was no truth in social media reports to the contrary.

However, multiple Muslim organizations last night extended their gratitude to the government for permitting to bury the bodies of Muslim who die due to COVID19.

Justice Minister Ali Sabry previously said he requested the state authorities to look into the possibility of burying the bodies of Muslims who die due to COVID19, as per the guidelines issued by the World Health Organization.
