Have All Sri Lankans Stranded In Dubai Been Repatriated? Foreign Ministry Secretary's "Misleading" Remarks Draw Severe Criticism

Foreign Ministry Secretary Admiral Jayanath Colombage has come under severe criticism on social media for claiming that all Sri Lankans expecting to return to Sri Lanka from Dubai have been repatriated.

The Foreign Ministry Secretary has made this remark at a meeting held at the Presidential Secretariat.

However, a number of people have responded to the Foreign Ministry Secretary's remarks through social media claiming that many Sri Lankans are still undergoing numerous hardships in Dubai without adequate money to return to the motherland.

They said the Foreign Ministry's remarks are misleading and paints a wrong picture about their plight.

The government's repatraiation programme for migrant Sri Lankan workers has come under severe criticism due to exorbitant charges associated with it.

Minister Namala Rajapaksa recently called for a government-sponsored programme to repatriate Sri Lankans workers stranded overseas and ensure free quarantine.
