The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has launched an inquiry into the alleged sex scandal involving a young Sri Lankan cricketer and a female support staff member.

The SLC has written to the Sri Lanka team management to submit a detailed report in this regard.

Head coach Mickey Arthur, a senior member of the team management, had initially dismissed media reports claiming they were "scandaoous".

A controversy broke out following a newspaper report claiming that a young Sri Lankan cricketer shared his hotel room with a female cricket official during the first Test match against England. There were multiple reports claiming that some members of the Sri Lankan cricket team "misbehaved" during the recently concluded Cricket tournament in South Africa where Sri Lanka suffered a humiliating defeat.
