Prime Minister Informs Parliament That Sri Lanka Will Allow Burial Of COVID19 Victims

February 10, 2021

Prime Mnister Mahinda Rajapkasa stated in Parliament a short while ago that the country would permit the burial of bodies of COVID19 victims.

Rajapaksa made this remark in response to a question raised by SJB MP S.M. Marikkar.

This development came a day after State Minister of Health Sudarshini Fernandopulle said in Parliament that the virus does not transmit through water.

A number of health bodies and medical associations have pointed out that COVID19 does not transmit through ground water — one of main arguments brought against the burial of COVID19-infected bodies.

However, the timeline of the implementation of this decision remains unclear.
