SLPP MP Chandima Weerakkody Fires Salvo At Ruling Camp: "People Are Now Disgusted: Popularity Of SLPP Govt. Is Waning"

Ruling party MP Chandima Weerakkody fired a salvo at his own government saying the public were disgusted with the SLPP administration.

Speaking to the media, Weerakkody, a prominent political figure in the Galle District, said the people were utterly dissatisfied with the current state of affairs in the country.

"We have to understand that out government is not popular at the moment. The public support for our government is waning," Weerakkody, a former Deputy Speaker of Parliament, said.

"The government must now decide whether it is ready to understand the pulse of the people and correct its court or to perish at the next election," he added, launching a scathing attack on his own government.

However, when contacted by Asian Mirror, a senior SLPP Parliamentarian said Weerakkody's remarks were driven by anger as he was not invited for the balamandala meeting of the Habaraduwa electorate.

"We will be able to sort this out. I think this is only an expression of his disappointment," the Parlimentarian added.
