[VIDEO] Shameful Attempt By Govt. Supporters To Tarnish My Image Using Controversy Over SI And Woman’s Murder: Harin

Former Minister and Opposition MP Harin Fernando said it was shameful that his name had been dragged into the controversy surrounding the Sub Inspector of the Police and the woman whose decapitated body was found in a Travelling bag.

Addressing a press conference, Fernando said it was a deliberate attempt to tarnish his name by some associates of the government. “It only shows how badly they have failed themselves,” Fernando said.

“He added that the officer in question was attached to his security detail by the Department of Police. He has also worked in the security details of Navin Dissanayake and Hesha Withanage. Then he received a promotion and was deployed to the Buttala police. It is shameful to sling mud at us using this incident,” he said.

Fernando also added that he did not want to comment on the incident.

“He was punished for the crime he committed and he had killed himself. I don’t wish to comment on who is right and who is wrong in this incident. But, the conduct of some elements in the government over this incident is clearly despicable,” Fernando said.
