MP Ashok Abeysinghe Facing Imminent Arrest Over Controversial Remarks Linking President And Basil To Easter Attacks

Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Ashok Abeysinghe is facing imminent arrest over his controversial statement linking President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and former Minister Basil Rajapaksa to the Easter Sunday attacks.

Abeysinghe has been noticed to appear before the CID to give a statement on his remark. But the MP has avoided appearing before the CID thus far citing his parliamentary commitments this week.

Six ruling party MPs and Nissanka Senadhipathy — whom Abeysinghe accused of financing terrorists — have lodged two complaints against Abeysinghe over this statement.

The Parliamentarian made these controversial remarks addressing an internal gathering with SJB activists in the Kurunegala area.
