Politician Azath Salley Says He's Being Targeted Due To Controversial Voice Clip Over Ampara Mosque Attack In 2018

Politician Azath Salley, who is now facing imminent arrest over a controversial statement, now says he has an incriminating voice clip against Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekera over Ampara mosque attacks in 2018.

Salley is now under investigation over a statement to the effect that he has no respect for Sri Lanka's legal system as the country's does not recognise Shariah Law. The CID has already commenced an investigation into the statement and the Public Security Minister has directed the police to take stern action against the politician.

In response to the Public Security Minister's statement, Salley said Weerawasekera was pursuing action against him as he had the voice lip on the Ampara mosque attacks.

However, many who commented on Salley's statement on social media expressed surprised as to why he did not release the clip to the public when the issue was being investigated.
