Several party leaders of the SLPP-led coalition met at the SLFP Headquarters this afternoon, informed political sources said.

Among them were Ministers Wimal Weerawansa, Udaya Gammanpila and other party leaders representing the ruling coalition.

The discussion was chaired by former President Maithripala Sirisena, the leader of the SLFP.

The meeting came against a backdrop where the relations between the SLPP and minor parties within the ruling coalition have strained.

The current political situation and the upcoming May Day celebration were the highlights of the discussion, a source familiar with the matter said.
