"President Telephoned Me This Morning And Scolded Me In Demeaning Manner": Wijedasa Explains Verbal Exchange With President

SLPP MP Wijedasa Rajapakshe said President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa telephoned him this morning and insulted him in a demeaning manner.

Addressing a press conference in Colombo this morning, Rajapakshe said the President spoke to him regarding his press conference on the Port City Bill.

"As he is the President of the country and I am a Member of Parliament, I initially though the President wanted to discuss the concerns I raised about the bill," he said.

"Instead, he spoke to me in an unparliamentary language and I too had to respond to him in a language that he understands," the MP added.

"It is clear that my security is not guaranteed given the President's rage. It is up to the people of the country to ensure my safety," he stated.
