Court Grants Bail To Youth Who Was Arrested For Honking Vehicle Horns At VVIP Convoy Carrying Chinese Defence Minister

The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court released the youth who was arrested for honking vehicle horns at a VVIP convoy in Colombo on a personal bail.

The VVIP convoy was carrying the Chinese Defence Minister who visited Colombo recently for bilateral discussions with the leaders of the Sri Lankan government.

Angry protestors honked their vehicle horns at the convoy as the road was closed for a considerable period of time to facilitate the movements of the Chinese Defence Miniser.

The 32-year-old youth, a resident of Pelawatte, Battaramulla, was arrested for organising the "protest".

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya youth movement and other civil organisations also sent legal teams to the Colombo Chief Magistrate's courts premises to offer legal assistance to the arrested youth.

However, lawyers personally retained by the family of the youth appeared for him in the hearing.
