Normal Surgeries Performed at Govt. Hospitals Postponed To Ease Pressure On ICU Facilities: Admission Of Patients Restricted

Normal surgeries performed at government hospitals have been postponed due to the current situation, Health Ministry sources said.

However, emergency surgeries will be carried out as planned, our sources added. Government hospitals have also restricted the admission of patients from outstation areas to main hospitals.

This situation is caused by the sudden upsurge of COVID19 cases across the country. The Intensive Care Units in mots hospitals have already filled up due to COVID19 patients and the decision to postpone normal surgeries is expected to ease the pressure on ICU facilities in state-run hospitals.
