The Supreme Court has ordered to pay Rs. 500,000 as compensation to a student who was denied admission to the Grade 01 of Yashodhara Devi Balika Maha Vidyalaya in Gampaha for nearly two years.

Sayurini Limmenza Fernando, a resident of Asgiriya, Gampaha, and her father Saman Dharshana Fernando, the father of the student, filedthis petition. Members of the Admission Board, Members of the Board of Appeals, Gampaha Regional Director of Education KG Sirima and the Attorney General were cited as respondents.
