AG's Department Plaque Omitting Tamil Language Removed: New Plaque With All Four Languages To Be Erected Soon

The Attorney General's Department said the plaque of the Smart Library which omitted the Tamil language has been removed.

The Smart Libracy, which was constructed with Chinese assistance, only contained Sinhala, English and Mandarin languages.

The AG's Department stated that the removal of the Tamil language was inadvertent and a new plaque will be established soon in adherence to the National Languages Policy.

The Smart Library of the Attorney General’s Department was declared open by Attorney General Dappula de Livera and Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong. The photograph contained that the plaque did not contain Tamil letters in violation of the Official Languages Act.
