First "Reported" Vaccine Theft In Sri Lanka: Two Staffers At Habaraduwa MOH Office Arrested For Stealing Sinopharm Vaccine

Police have arrested a driver and a minor employee of the Habaraduwa Medical Officer of Health (MOH) office in connection with a theft of 30 doses of Sinopharm vaccine.

According to a police complaint lodged by the Medical Officer of Health with regard to the theft, the value of stolen vaccines stands around Rs. 90,000.

The Galle SSP ordered the Galle Divisional Crime Unit to conduct a special investigation into the incident.

This was the first vaccine theft reported in a state-run health establishment in Sri Lanka. The incident took place while the health authorities have launched a vigorous vaccination drive in many parts of the country.
