Harin Fernando Will Not Be Arrested Until September 01: Attorney General Informs Supreme Court

The Attorney General today informed the Supreme Court that SJB MP Harin Fernando would not be arrested until September 1.

Fernando has filed a Fundamental Rights petition citing a purported move by the police to arrest him in connection with the investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks.

The SJB MP made some controversial remarks in parliament linking some intelligence officers with the Easter Sunday attacks.

A number of SLPP MPs complained to the IGP to further investigate Fernando's remarks and take appropriate action.
