Army Chief Responds To Ex-PM's Statement On Military's Role In Vaccination: Says RW Too Was Vaccinated Army

Army Commander Shavedra Silva today responded to former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who critisied the military establishement for running the COVID19 vacciation drive.

Speaking to the media in Kandy, Silva said the former Prime Minister also obtained his vaccine at the Army Hospital in Narahenpita.

Silva also added that the COVID19 Task Force was compirsed of cabinet minitsers, health officials, medical professionals and heads of the defence forces.

He added that the Task Force did not make arbtrary decisions, as claimed by some, and carried out its work with advice from the relevant authorities.

Wickremesinghe has requested the governmet to disband the Task Force and ensure that the Cabinet plays as active role in the pandemic management in Sru Lanka.
