Four Officials At Lak Sathosa Arrested Over The "Garlic Scam" Remanded Till Oct 14 By Wattala Magistrate

The four persons arrested in connection with the "garlic fraud" at Lak Sathosa have been remanded till the 14th.

The order was made after they were produced before the Wattala Magistrate's Court today (12), Ada Derana reporter said.

They were arrested yesterday (11) by the CID's Mass Robbery Investigation Unit in connection with the garlic fraud at Lak Sathosa.

The arrested persons were the Assistant General Manager, Lak Sathosa Purchasing, Senior Manager Supplies, Manager Supplies and the Welisara Wholesale Store Manager.

The suspects were arrested when they arrived yesterday to give statements regarding the investigations being carried out under the supervision of the Director of the CID.

Meanwhile, a businessman was also arrested in connection with the scam and is currently in remand custody.

The Deputy General Manager of the Financial Division of Lanka Sathosa was also arrested earlier and has been released on bail.

Meanwhile, when the Cabinet decisions were announced today, the Minister in charge of the subject Bandula Gunawardena said that three officers have been appointed to conduct an internal investigation into the incident.
