COVID19 Patient's Body Found From Hospital Water Tank After 56 Days: Water Consumed By Thousands Of Patients And Hospital Staff

The body of a person who was hospitalized with COVID19 has been recovered from the main water tank of the Gampola Hospital.

It is suspected that the body may have been in the tank for 56 days.

The Gampola Hospital Protection Organization has written to the Director General of Health Services to conduct a formal investigation into the inefficient and irresponsible conduct of the hospital administration which allowed the body of an infected person to be dissolved in a water tank. The water pumped from the tanl was consumed by thousands of patients and hospital staff.

The deceased was identified as S. Ilanbovan, a police sergeant.

All the family members of the sergeant were been hospitalized due to COVID19 and remained in serious condition.

The sergeant has been missing since September 8.

The body of the sergeant was found in a water tank on the 29th of this month. By then, 56 days had passed since the sergeant went missing.
