Cabraal Says Foreign Reserves Has Reached USD 3.1 Billion: Adds USD 1.5 Billion From Chinese Swap Deal In March

December 29, 2021

Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal said Sri Lanka's foreign reserves had reached approximately USD 3.1 Billion as of December 30, 2021.

"In keeping with our previous announcements, the official #reserve position of the @CBSL has today reached appox USD 3.1 billion and will remain around that level by end 2021 as well," Cabraal tweeted.

However, the Central Bank Governor did not announce the source of fresh reserves. But, it is widely known that the new figure came after the Central Bank Governor added USD 1.5 billion from a currency swap deal signed with China earlier this year (March) to the country's foreign reserves.
