Woman Detained At CID For Financial Fraud Commits Suicide By Jumping From 5th Floor

A woman who was detained at the CID for questioning over a financial fraud of Rs. 60 million has died after jumping from the 5th floor this morning (11), police said.

The deceased has been identified as Apsara Menike Rajapaksa, 46, a resident of Pannipitiya.

Police say they received information that she had gone to the toilet at around 3 this morning and jumped out of the window.

The victim is the first woman to commit suicide by jumping out of the CID. Her body is being kept at the Colombo National Hospital morgue.
