Government Of Myanmar Confers 'Aggamaha Panditha' Honorary Title On Prof. Dhammjothi Thera

The title of Aggamaha Ganthavacaka Panditha, an honorary degree conferred on Theravada Buddhist monks of academic excellence, by the Government of Myanmar, is conferred on the most Ven. Medavachchiye Dhammajothi Thero, a Senior Professor (Chair) of the Department of Buddhist Studies of the University of Colombo, and the Director of the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies of the University of Kelaniya.

Ven. Dhammajothi engaged in a research as a Fulbright scholar at the UCLA in America, and as a Commonwealth scholar at the University of Wales in the Great Britain. He has obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Nanjing University in China. Ven Dhammajothi is a senior disciple of the most Ven, Aggamaha Pandita kotugoda Dhammawasa, the late Supreme Mahanayake of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Sect.

Ven Dhammajothi is also a member of the Sri Su-mangala Karaka Sangha Sabha of Amarapura Nikaya (chapter).
