Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith Fires Salvos At AG And AG's Dept. Over Easter Attacks: Says. "Evidence Has Been Hidden"

The Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, has said that the current government and the Attorney General's Department cannot be expected to do justice to the Easter attack and expressed hopes that justice will be served by a future government.

He said the current government had made a mockery out of the investigations by protecting and promoting certain individuals who had not acted to prevent the Easter attacks.

The Colombo Archbishop also said that the current government had not fulfilled any of the promises made to him.

Cardina Ranjith made these remarks while addressing the launch of a book titled "Thitha" compiled by the National Catholic Communications Commission compiling all commission reports related to the Easter attack.

The ceremony was presided over by Archbishop Winston Fernando, Chairman of the Bishops' Conference of Sri Lanka.

The Archbishop of Colombo also alleged that the government and the attorney general have hidden evidence in the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the matter.

The Archbishop also said that servig justice had been made impossible due to the "misconduct" of the Attorney General and the Attorney General's Department.
