Proposal To Allow Public Servants To Work From Home For Two Days Amidst 10 Hour Power Cuts

It has been proposed to give public servants the opportunity to work from home today and tomorrow (30th and 31st) due to the prevailing situation in the country, said the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission, Janaka Ratnayake.

Ratnayake said that the people will have to live in a difficult situation for the next few days, adding that the cause of the ongoing power crisis is the economic crisis.

He added that the situation has been aggravated by the fact that no institution has taken the necessary steps to manage their eelectricity consumption.

However, the PUCSL has also sanctioned 10 hours power cuts across the country from today onwards. '

Therefore, it is unclear as to how the state sector employees can work from home when they do not have electricity during their working hours.
