Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe assured that there was no risk for the banking sector in terms of rupee liquidity. 

Addressing a press conference, he said the Central Bank is in a position to take measures to

Ensure the stability of the banking sector. 

The Governor said certain remarks made by politicians casting doubts over the stability of the banking system were “inappropriate”.

Dr. Weerasinghe assured that the banks would function without a problem and there was no risk of collapse as claimed by certain parties.
