Adani given green light to enter Sri Lanka’s power & energy sector

The Ministry of Power and Energy has granted provisional approvals for Adani Green Energy of India to set up two Wind energy projects in Sri Lanka. The plants will be established in Mannar and Pooneryn.

The project in Mannar is expected to generate 286MW while the project in Pooneryin will generate 234MW. The Investment in the project will be over 500 million US dollars.

Along with the provisional approval for the Adani group, another 21 out of 46 projects that were delayed due to amendments to the CEB Act will enter into power purchase agreements next week. Meanwhile, 26 renewable proposals that were given provisional approvals will be expedited with grid clearance and transmission plans.
