A video is now circulating on social media showing a group of Chefs including the son of famed Sri Lankan Chef Pabilis Silva slamming what they called were ‘never-ending’ Galle Face protests. The group arriving on the scene of yet another protest held yesterday at the Galle Face said the protests must stop as it is affecting the tourism industry. The group said they were visiting hotels to meet Chefs for a program when they saw the protest being held.

“Let’s change the government when an election comes up. They come on to the streets here and then just go home,” one Chef said. The group also criticised the Bhikkus at the event saying they were carrying out the agendas of various parties.

“What is the meaning of always being on the road? The Police officers here are patient. If it had been me I would not have been this patient,” he went on adding that they were unable to attract tourists as a result of these protests. They went on to say those in the tourism industry are suffering and the hotels have been destroyed.

The protest was held yesterday against state repression.
