Sports minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage is likely to appoint an interim committee for the country’s cricket administration until the end of the 2015 Cricket World Cup, if SLC President Jayantha Dharmadasa and Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga do not arrive at a settlement.
The ongoing controversy between the SLC President and Secretary Ranatunga has made a crippling impact on the country’s cricket administration. At a crisis meeting convened by the Sports Minister last month, all parties, including the SLC President and the Secretary, agreed to work together towards a common goal despite personality clashes.

The agreement, however, was short-lived.
Sports Minister Aluthgamage has decided o convene another meeting today with the participation of the SLC President Dharmadasa, Secretary Ranatunga and CEO Ashley de Silva. The meeting, according to sports ministry sources, is aimed at finding a lasting solution to the problems at the SLC.
Speaking to a daily Sinhala newspaper today, the Sports Minister said he would take measures to appoint an interim committee if the senior officials of the SLC did not agree to work together. “The interim committee,” the Sports Minister has said, “would take over the administration of the SLC until the end of the 2015 Cricket World Cup.”
“I will give my final warning to the SLC President and the Secretary at the meeting today. If they do not agree to comply with my instructions, I will use my powers and take necessary action. There should be an end to this and the officials should understand the gravity of the matter.”
The next annual general meeting of the SLC is to take place in March, next year.
