CEO of Western Hospital embroiled in alleged kidney racket passes away

Omar Sheriff, the CEO of Western Hospital which was recently embroiled in accusations of carrying out an alleged kidney racket has passed away. Sheriff, who is the youngest son of Prof Rizvi Sherrif, who is a pioneer in kidney transplants in Sri Lanka was a 40 years old father of one at the time of his death.

According to reports, Sheriff had suffered a cardiac incident while playing cricket before passing away. The last rites took place yesterday at the Jawatta Muslim burial grounds.
