Uber Taxi driver remanded for verbally abusing and attacking female passenger

An Uber taxi driver has been arrested by the Kohuwala Police after an assault on a female passenger after she refused to alight from the taxi without a refund after he attempted to stop the trip as she had paid with a credit card. According to the victim, she had got into the taxi and the driver had asked if it was a ‘cash or card’ trip. After she responded she had paid by card he claimed he had no money to pump fuel, verbally abused her and asked her to get out of the taxi.

The passenger said she had argued and refused to leave unless refunded. She said he then turned back and assaulted and verbally abused her. The victim had lodged a complaint with the police after which the driver has now been arrested and remanded.
