The Organization of Sri Lankan Foreign Employment Agents in the Emirates has requested the Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara to speed up the digitization of the foreign employment sector in order to make the activities of foreign employment agencies that provide employment opportunities to Sri Lankan workers in foreign countries more streamlined and easy to access.
The request was put forward by Sampath Kumarasinghe, Co-Chairman of the Organization of Sri Lankan Foreign Employment Agents of the Emirates during a meeting with the minister who was on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates recently.

Kumarasinghe said while the agents have continued to increase more employment opportunities for Sri Lankans, he said they in turn expect the government to provide the necessary services and carry out their work.
He pointed out that agents must face many difficulties to provide job opportunities to the government as they are required to visit the relevant Sri Lankan embassy to do so. “Those residing many kilometres away must do the same. Digitizing the process will save time and cost,” he pointed out. He also said many irregularities and frauds that take place in the process can be reduced through digitization as well. “This will also protect the worker” he noted. In response, the Minister said steps will be taken to expedite the process to digitize
