It is reported that the Criminal Investigation Department has started an investigation regarding a conspiracy to assassinate President Ranil Wickremesinghe. Information has been reported to the Criminal Investigation Department that a few days ago a group of people related to a political party in Sri Lanka held a discussion regarding the assassination plot in a foreign country.

Further information has been reported to the Criminal Investigation Department that the group has conspired to kill the President within two weeks. Accordingly, the Criminal Investigation Department is going to commence investigations regarding the political party activists involved in this incident, the report said.
