SJB Rattled By "Crossover Fears": Seniors Voice Concerns About Jalani And A Controversial Businessman

The main opposition party, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SB), is rattled by media reports that a number of party MPs are about to crossover to the government.

According to multiple media reports, the three economic experts in the party, namely Dr. Harsha de Silva, Eran Wickremaratne and Kabir Hashim, are openly supportive of the economic reforms plan carried out by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

"It is still too early to they if they will join the ruling party. But, the large majority of party MPs are deeply disappointed with the leadership style of Sajith Premadasa," a source familiar with the matter said.

One of their key concerns is the involvement of Jalani Premadasa, the wife of Sajith Premadasa, and a businessman closely affiliated with the Preamadasas in the affairs of the party.

"Many party seniors are sidelined and a certain clique makes all the important decisions about the party," our source added.

However, sources close to Harsha De Silva and Eran Wickremeratne said one of the key reasons delaying their move was the involvement of the Rajapaksas in the Wickremesinghe administration.
