The 2014 Uva Provincial Council Elections started off at 7.00am today across more than 800 polling stations in Badulla and Moneragala District today.
The polls will be closed by 4.00pm.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Elections Commissioner Mahinda deshapriya had asked voters to cast their vote early in the morning. He urged people to take a valid identification document to the polling station, which is an essential requirement to cast their vote.
Uva PC will have 34 members out of which 32 are elected, 18 from Badulla and 14 from Moneragala Districts. 609,966 from Badulla and 332,764 from Moneragala are eligible to cast their votes in the election.
