The first official result of the 2014 Uva PC election was released a short while ago. This was the Postal Votes of Moneragala District.

The UPFA won the Postal Votes in Moneragala with 5632 votes while the UNP won 2800 votes. The JVP has 1001 votes.

Moneragala is usually a safe UPFA district while postal votes also usually favor that party. Yet this result is a drastic change from 2009.

In 2009 Uva Polls, UPFA swept Moneragala postal votes with 7,076 votes at 87.28 percent while the UNP received just 793 votes. In 2009, JVP had only 234 postal votes.
