As the votes are counted in the Uva Provincial Council Elections, Badulla District is still too close to call, UNP Parliamentarian Dr. Harsha de Silva has said.
“District is going to be a close call... Even if we don't win the district outright this result is going to be a huge boost for UNP” he stated on facebook from Badulla District Secretariat.
He recalled that in 2009 Uva Polls, UPFA received 259,069 (67.8%) votes while the UNP managed to poll only 98,635 (25.8%) votes.
At the 2010 General election UPFA got 203,689 (58.3%) and UNP got 112,886 (32.3%) votes, bringing down the margin of defeat from more than 160,000 to just 90,803.
