UNP Chief Ministerial Candidate Harin Fernando topped the preferential list for the district of Badulla by obtaining 173993 votes.
When compared to the total votes achieved by the UNP in Badulla, Fernando's preferential votes percentage stands at 88 percent.
Fernando's percentage is a new record in the electoral history of Sri Lanka.
Velayudhan Ruddhadeepan (30457) and Jayantha Kannangara (28290) becamme second and third on the UNP list for Badulla.
JVP's Samantha Vidyarathne also secured a seat in the Provincial Council by obtaining 14161 votes.
Anura Vidanagamage, of the United People's Freedom Alliance , obtained 59316 preferential votes and topped the UPFA list for the district of Badulla.
Chamara Sampath Dissanayake (34337) and Senthil Thondaman (31858) became second and third on the UPFA list.
Senthil Thondaman is still receiving treatments as he met with an accident in his electorate just days before the election.
