Tissa Resigns From UNP Leadership Council Ahead Of Possible Dissolution

UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake has resigned from the Leadership Council of the party citing personal reasons, UNP sources told Asian Mirror. 
 
Attanayake has made the move just a day ahead of the crucial Working Commitee meeting of the party where Sajith Premadasa's appointment as the Deputy Leader of the party would be discussed.

Attanayake, in the recent past, has been a staunch supporter of Sajith Premadasa's candidacy to the post of Deputy Leader. 
 
At the last Leadership Council metting, there was a heated argument between Ravi Karunanayake and Tissa attanayake over the latter's role to promote Premadasa in the party. Attanayake's decision to resign from the Leadership Council has come in the wake of the  dispute with karunanayake. 
 

Meawhile, it is learnt that the UNP will take measures to dissolve the Leadership Council with Sajith Premadasa becoming the deputy leader of the party. Attanayake's has announced his resignation ahead of a possible dissolution of the Leadership Council
