Harin Fernando's Vehicle Attacked In Hali-ela

September 22, 2014

UNP Chief Ministerial Candidate for the Uva Provincial Council election Harin Fernando's vehicle has come under attack in Haliela, Police sources confirmed.

The attack, surprisingly, had taken place near the police post of Hali-ela.

A mob had attacked Fernando's vehicle with iron bars and cudgels. The mob is suspected to be supporters of the UPFA.

The electorate of Haliela, the constituency of Minister Dilan Perera, was won by the UNP with a thin margin at the recently held Provincial Council election.

Fernando had visited Haliela today after receiving the news that some of the cutouts and posters put up by the UNP had been damaged by supporters of the government.

No casualties are reported as a result of the incident. However, Fernando has lodged a Police complaint in this regard.
