Six newborns lost their lives after a massive fire broke out at the New Born Baby Care Hospital in Vivek Vihar, Delhi, late Saturday night.
According to the Delhi Fire Department, 12 children were rescued , with six succumbing to their injuries. One newborn remains on a ventilator, while five others are receiving treatment.
The rescued newborns have been transferred to the East Delhi Advance NICU hospital for further care.
Firefighters and police officials quickly responded to the incident, managing to extinguish the fire with the help of 16 fire tenders. Fire Officer Rajesh reported that the fire affected both the hospital building and two floors of an adjacent residential building. Eleven to twelve people were rescued and transported to hospitals.
