The Meteorology Department has forecast continued showery and windy conditions across the island due to the active Southwest Monsoon. Heavy showers exceeding 100mm are expected in parts of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Nuwara-Eliya district.
Intermittent showers or thundershowers will affect the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, and Southern provinces, while evening or nighttime showers are predicted for the Uva province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts.
Strong winds between 50-60 kmph are anticipated on the western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-central, Western, Southern, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee and Monaragala districts.
