The Ministry of Health says that the current shortage of insulin will be resolved within the next four days.
Deputy Director General of the Medical Supplies Division, Dr. G. Wijesuriya, stated that the delay was caused by issues in the supplier's registration process, which have now been addressed.
To expedite the resolution, instructions have been issued to airlift the first batch of Insulin Mixtard, the affected medication. In the meantime, hospitals have been directed to manage the available stocks efficiently.
The Ministry also said that three types of insulin are used in the country's hospital system and ensure an uninterrupted supply of essential medicines.
