Sajin Accuses TNA Of Standing In The Way Of Peace

Ministry of External Affairs Monitoring MP Sajin de Vass Gunawardena has said that peace has been realized 99 percent and the remaining one percent cannot be achieved due to the TNA.

He made these comments at the second reading of the Land (Restrictions on Alienation) Bill at the parliament yesterday.

“We are unable to realize this one percent because of the TNA,” Gunewardena added. “The LTTE seized land from innocent people and burned the deeds and even killed the people. This Act will be of a lot of service to the poor people. Our economy is growing, industries are improving and agriculture productivity is increasing. Land reform will help this process” he added.

Sajin de Vass Gunewardena also lashed out at UNP MP Sajith Premadasa’s claims on the new port city. “This is a city built by reclaiming land in the sea. The government is not investing in it. When an outsider is investing in such a large project, we have to reciprocate. That is why a part is leased” he said. “The President distributed land to 20,000 people in the north. It is one main recommendation of the LLRC. Why is no one saying anything about that?” Gunewardena asked.

“People will always remember who armed the LTTE and who let 600 police officers die. People will not forget the history,” he also added.
