A senior spokesman of the United National Party told Asian Mirror this morning (27) that a few Parliamentarians of the ruling party are likely to cross the aisle of the house during the vote on the Budget 2015.
He added that the ruling party members had already held discussions with members of the G20 - a committee appointed by the UNP - on possibilities of working together.

He added that there was a possibility for breakaway ruling party members to work as an independent group in Parliament, without directly joining the UNP.
It was widely speculated that Gampaha District UPFA Parliamentarian Wasantha Senanayake would join the opposition this week.
Although Senanayake has already presented a proposal on a constitutional amendment, it has not elicited a positive response from the top echelons of the ruling party.
Multiple media reports told last week that a few other UPFA Parliamentarians too - who are dissatisfied with the present state of affairs in the party - had expressed willingness to make a strong political move ahead of the next presidential election.
However, the government, on numeruos occasions, has flatly denied that media reports claiming several ruling party Parliamentarians were preparing for a crossover
