The election will be announced just a day after President Mahinda Rajapaksa's 69th Birthday and exactly nine years after the President assumed office for his first term.

However, it is learnt that several parties, including the Janatha vimukthi Peramuna, have already sought legal advice to take legal action against President Rajapaksa, soon after he hands over nomination to contest for the third time.

Former Chief Justice Sarath N Silva too has pledged to take legal action on the same matter.

However, multiple political sources told Asian Mirror that both parties were waiting for the day of nomination pertaining to the presidential election.

Meanwhile. During the meeting which took place at Temple Trees yesterday between the senior officials of the UPFA and the JHU, it has been conveyed to the constituent party that the election would be announced in the third week of November..

However the JHU has already given an ultimatum to the UPFA that its proposals should be implemented before the announcement of any election.
