Container Drivers Of Colombo Harbour Launch Strike: Operations Disrupted

Container drivers of the Colombo Harbour have launched a strike from last night due to an alleged assault on a container driver by security personnel.

Following this incident the container drivers launched the strike demanding the authorities to take action against the security personnel who allegedly assaulted the driver. As a result the day to day operations of the Colombo Harbour were disrupted on Thursday morning.

Police media told Asian Mirror that the Ingurukade junction has been blocked due to the protest and that the protest would continue until today afternoon.

The police media added that they have deployed additional police force to Ingurukade junction.

However, speaking to Asian Mirror, authorities of the harbour said they would work towards arriving at a settlement with container drivers.
