SLFP General Secretary Maithripala Sirisena, commenting on the conduct of the main opposition, said the opposition seemed ill-prepared for a national election.
Without commenting on the nature of the election which is in the offing, the SLFP General Secretary said the ruling party was expecting a national level election.
Therefore, the Minister added, the election will end with a resounding victory for the ruling party.
The ruling party press conference was also attended by Vasudewa Nanayakkara, Minister of National Languages and Social Integration.
The Minister, who is known to be a former Leftist leader, said the common candidate of the opposition, whoever he may be, will represent the policies of the UNP.
It was clear that Nanayakkara was invited for the press conference to show that the government still had the support of the constituent parties of the UPFA.
Nanayakkara also added that the people of the country wanted to see President Mahinda Rajapaksa's victory at the forthcoming presidential election.
