Nishantha Warnasinghe, Media Spokesman of the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) said today that his party would announce its decision on being a stakeholder of the UPFA on November 18.
He added that the JHU had received the government's response in writing to the proposals presented by the JHU.
The government response, according to Warnasinghe, will be discussed at length at the Central Committee meeting of the party.
According to ruling party sources, the government has not agreed to devise a comprehensive constitutional amendment before the announcement of the next presidential election. However, it has agreed to implement the JHU's proposals during President Mahinda Rajapaksa's third team in office.
One of the key proposals of the JHU is the abolition of Executive Presidency Presidency.
The JHU has already stated that the party would not compromise on its condition with regard to the constitutional amendment before the next presidential election.
Meanwhile, Warnasinghe, as a representative of the JHU, was present in the press conference today held by former JVP stalwart and Mayor of Panadura Nandana Gunathilake to announce his breaking away from the government.
