Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thera Supports 19th Amendment

National Movement for a Just Society Chairperson Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thera said that he is prepared to accept the 19th Amendment with the removal of certain clauses as determined by the Supreme Court.
 
Speaking to a local media channel, Sobhitha Thera said that he will continue his struggle for the total abolition of the executive presidency. However, he is prepared to accept the positive changes for the moment, Sobhitha Thera added.
 
He further stated that he will continue his fight for abolition of executive presidency even after the next government is formed.
 
President Sirisena recently said that the parliament will be dissolved after the approval of the 19th Amendment. Meanwhile, Minister of Justice Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe recently said that the next parliament will be converted into a Constituent Assembly for the purpose of drafting a new constitution.
